The Unacceptable “F” Word

The Unacceptable “F” Word
At one time a famous comedian had his list of unacceptable words you couldn’t say on television and radio. If you did the FCC would heavily fine the person which did so. This comedian I speak of was George Carlin. I certainly will not address these words, nor did I intend to, but instead the word that I speak of is not on his list:

If you did look at these words, you know these were once unacceptable for television. But, watching television has changed! What was once family oriented programming networks are not so friendly anymore. You not only hear the words on that list, but you see things which has definitely thrown society into a game changer for families, and especially young people. I think programming has affected families in so many ways, and this also includes the family dynamics as a whole. And to expand upon that would be the theaters, as well. Frequently used words which supposedly are rated into categories, are now even used in family rated films. I believe this has reflected itself upon our nation and world.

Standards have eroded over time, and now graphic scenes leave families trying to explain certain situations later, if they are good parents. Many parents don’t leave the theater or watch television and explain which causes children and youngsters to evaluate these subjects on their own which is dangerous to say the least.

I’m sure you thought the word with the “F” which I was referring to is a foul four-letter one, right? Well, it’s not. The word I speak of is “FAITH”.
This word has become the “unacceptable” F word. And not only is it unacceptable but if it is spoken of then it’s used in a derogatory manner, and even used as humorous!

The truth is the word faith is one which many people veer away from, and some families rarely even use the word. I personally have heard children ask their parents, “Who is God?” True story. And what’s worse is that example happened in my own family!

Faith is the F word which is avoided. Many colleges do not contain this word in their curriculum, many schools are prompted to never speak of it. In fact, if you intend to be a doctor then FORGET IT! Your taught there is NO GOD!

Peer pressure has only increased since I was in school, and the current crowds or ‘cliques’ are exclusive groups called, “goths”, “preps”, “punk”, “geeks”, “jocks”, “nerds”…etc. But if you hear of the religious groups then they are considered “crazy”. But, this doesn’t just apply to school anymore…it’s applies to the whole world!

Young people who want to build life upon faith are hindered by a peer pressure, so much so, that they can be ridiculed, bullied even, into edging faith out of their everyday experience of life. Faith is there, but it takes courage to use and own that F word.

The wave began ever so quietly…sneaking it’s way into families. How?? I believe television programming and theater films had a great part in it. Why didn’t Believer’s stop its progress? Just like with most things in life, they didn’t take it seriously. I liken it to Rock & Roll music…it’s end result is evil, but at first it was pleasing to the ear. When people said Rock music was the devils music, they laughed! Now listen closely to lyrics…have you? Well….you better!

Faith is a dirty word now. When families get together, including my own…we tell each other…”Don’t speak of religion or politics.” Crazy right?
Well, recently…I put my foot down! I told everyone it’s a NON-NEGOTIABLE subject for me…either you accept me as I am or don’t accept me at all.
This is what we have to do! PUT OUR FOOT DOWN!
If not….then it will get much worse. Ohhh…and it will because people are weak-minded!
But wait…do you have the guts to stand up for what you believe?

  1. wow…crazy. ridiculous how such things exist and people don’t even bother to pay attention. now that I think about it, it’s annoying how if anyone else says something to a different group of people it’s called, racism, or discrimination, even terrorism, they’re not being narrow minded and not accepting…yet when it comes to anything Christian, that’s exactly what they do to us.

  3. I couldn’t agree more… I’ve never liked the word, am shocked how its used so freely now everywhere… in public, with no concerns who’s around in ear distance… and we’re looked at like something is wrong with us because we don’t like the word.
